St. FX/Flux Lab
The Flux Lab is one of St. FX’s gems. Led by Dr. Dave Risk, teams of talented young researchers are working to develop instrumentation, modeling, and analytical strategies for measuring greenhouse gas production and soil emission. They work closely with other large research centres across the country and are making groundbreaking developments in their emissions studies.
Headspace worked with Flux Lab to develop a fresh new website that highlights the great work being done in the lab, showcases the research team, and is appealing to undergraduate students looking for a strong environmental science program. The site pulls in data from field sites as well, so interested visitors can check out Flux’s latest projects and see up-to-date numbers. In addition to an updated site architecture, the new design is modern and clean while maintaining some visual ties with the St. FX family of websites.
Built in ExpressionEngine, the Flux Lab site is easy to update, ensuring Dr. Risk’s team is able to keep content fresh and current. The site uses some cool Javascript scrolling effects, so rather than each page loading separately as it’s clicked, the site scrolls to the appropriate content. With an engaging layout, tons of great content, and an easy-to-navigate format, the Flux Lab site is sure to please students and researchers alike and is a terrific showcase for the lab’s work.
