Situation
Cape Breton is a major destination on the world scene, known for it’s beautiful scenery and unique culture. We were honored with the chance to re-design cbisland.com and give it new life on the web.
Strategy and Solution
After our initial kick-off meeting with the client, we began with completely re-thinking the information architecture and designed a clear, usable interface that highlighted large photos, and the many categories of different things to see and do. An interactive map allows users to choose a particular category and see pins representing where the available destinations are. A search feature allows users to find specific listings by keyword. Built in ExpressionEngine, the site is editable by Destination Cape Breton staff, allowing them to add new accommodations listings, blog posts and event entries.
Solution
Through the new design, we were able to considerably lower cbisland.com bounce rate, increasing the amount of page views and time on the site.
