Situation
Anyone who has been to the south shore of Nova Scotia knows that it owns some of the most breathtaking beauty in the region. The problem has been that of unity, many people know of the town of Lunenburg, but don’t realize how much there is to do and see outside of the town. The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg hired Headspace to brand the region, and create a compelling web presence for tourism.
Strategy
First, our branding served to rename MODL into something more enticing, capitalizing on the town of Lunenburg and differentiating itself from many other tourism brands. We also wanted to take the website to another level; Instead of simply being an online brochure, we wanted the website to serve as an information resource for anyone visiting the south shore.
Solution
The logo pulls in the concept of a birdhouse, something safe, cozy and rural, the hand-drawn typeface represents the strong presence of folk-art in the region, and the website makes use of ExpressionEngines’ ‘related field’ capabilities to showcase Places to Stay, Places to Eat, Things to Do (“hidden gems”), Festivals and Events, and tying them all together, including Google maps. This website serves to set the bar for rural tourism websites and is already receiving rave reviews from users.
Visit Site"I wanted to take a minute and thank you, Kyle and the focus at Headspace Design for the tremendous work that has been done on both the tourism brand and Lunenburgregion.ca website. The response from our operators and visitors has been overwhelming. I continue to get e-mails commenting on how attractive and easy to navigate the site is."
